GUERREROS FALL SHORT 2-1 IN SAN DIEGO
A strong outing for the Oxnard Guerreros wasn’t enough this time around as ASC San Diego was able to come out with a 2-1 win on their home ground. Eric Avila and Michael Turner were able to grab goals for San Diego, and Oxnard’s Moises Orozco was able to score his second goal in as many games.
Avila and San Diego were able to get the chances going early, and would capitalize in the 23rd minute as Avila collected the ball and slotted it home. This was Avila’s first goal of the campaign, and gave the team from San Diego a 1-0 home lead.
The lead wouldn’t last long though as Moises Orozco, the reigning NPSL National Player of the Week, was able to tie the game up in the 36th minute and have his hard work over the course of the first half pay off.
The first half would come to an end with a score of 1-1, and both team would come into the second in hopes of extending their win streaks to two.
Oxnard and San Diego battled hard right from the whistle as the second half started. The game was back and forth, and no team could grab a clear chance to give their side the advantage. That is until Michael Turner of ASC San Diego came flying through on a corner and was able to find the back of the net, and give his lead the 2-1 lead.
The Guerreros would continue to push for the draw, but Turner’s first goal of the season proved the be costly for Oxnard as San Diego would win by a score of 2-1, and pick up their second win on the season.
This win will help ASC San Diego retain their second place position in the table, and will drop Oxnard from the fourth spot.
Oxnard will be back in action April 21 when they host FC Golden State. It will be the home opener for Oxnard, and they will look to get back to winning ways.
