
FC Columbus Defeats FC Indiana 9-0
At home for the last time during the regular season, FC Columbus battled the extreme heat on its way towards defeating FC Indiana 9-0.
Looking to bounce back after a late defeat on Friday night versus AFC Ann Arbor, FC Columbus’s Damani Kamara opened the scoring early for the home side in the third minute.
Following the opening goal, FC Columbus’s speed continued to cause problems for the visiting side. After a nice run down the wing, a cross into the box by Rhodes Moore forced a poor clearance from the FC Indiana defense that deflected off the post and into the back of the net putting the home side up 2-0 in the 16th minute.
FC Columbus’s Ezra Armstrong put the home side up 3-0 in the 31st minute following a mandatory water break. After collecting a well-played through ball, Armstrong found himself one-on-one with the FC Indiana goalkeeper. Through he was initially denied on his first attempt, he was able to corral the rebound and find the back of a wide open net.
Up 3-0 late in the second half, FC Columbus took control of the match for good as Michael Chilton notched his second goal of the season in the 44th minute.
Leading 4-0 at the half, FC Columbus started the second half quickly as Charles Renken found the back of the net in the 55th minute opening the floodgates for the home side.
Damani Camara would bookend an Omar Kamara goal in the 64th minute with a set of his own in the 59th and 67th minutes, securing his first hat trick of the season.
Michael Chilton would finish the visiting side off in the 90th minute earning his second goal of the match and first brace of the season.
FC Columbus returns to action against FC Indiana on Tuesday, July 3rd in Lafayette, IN as they complete their season series with one another.
