ASC SAN DIEGO DEFEATS RIVERSIDE CORAS 2-0
Strong performances on both sides of the ball gave ASC San Diego a 2-0 win over visiting Riverside Coras. Goals came from Garrett Heine and Sean Callahan and goalkeeper Jean Antoine put in a world-class outing with four critical saves.
The offense started early for San Diego as Callahan got the first real opportunity of the game in just the sixth minute. His shot forced a great save from the Riverside Coras keeper. While the offense began to build momentum, the ASC defense started to click and cause problems for the opposition.
A great play by Michael Turner set the first goal in motion. Matt Clare and Sean Callahan worked their way through the Coras defense with Callahan unselfishly giving up the ball to Heine for the score in the 21st minute.
The first half would continue with opportunities for both sides and increasingly chippy play. Callahan would get a goal of his own in the 52nd minute, giving the home side a 2-0 lead.
ASC’s Aleks Burkholds would receive a red card four minutes later, leaving San Diego with ten men moving forward. A strong defense and a Man of the Match performance from Antoine helped ASC San Diego finish out the game with a 2-0 win and a well-deserved three points.
ASC San Diego moves into second place behind FC Golden State with a 1-0-1 record and four points.
