TEMECULA FC AND ORANGE COUNTY FC FINISH WITH 1-1 DRAW

The game between Temecula FC and rivals Orange County FC was easily one of the most highly anticipated matches of the 2018 NPSL season.  It did not disappoint as the game finished in a 1-1 result.  The score bears no reflection on the manner in which the game was played as Orange County FC had Jose Montes de Oca sent off and Temecula FC manager Austin Levins was sent to the stands.

Early pressure from Temecula FC saw former Orange County FC player Andrew Hernandez open the scoring with a tap-in after great work from Joey Ciochetto.  Several more opportunities would fall for both teams before de Oca scored off a long ball from the back. The game was 1-1 at the break.

As the sun settled and the wind died in the second half, both sides had fantastic opportunities to add to their scorelines.  However, a combination of great goalkeeping, superb bravery by defenders to block, and just hard luck on both teams’ part, meant the second half finished with a scoreline of 1-1. With both clubs not happy with the result, some frustration was seen on both benches.

The rivalry between these two clubs will make for a great return game in Orange County later in the season. One thing is for sure, the rest of the 2018 campaign will be interesting.  It’s already off to an incredible start.
