Spokane SC Shadow Finish Unbeaten with Win, Draw on the Road
The Spokane Shadow posted a 2-1 victory Friday night against OSA FC and then earned a 1-1 draw Saturday evening to finish the NPSL regular season with an unbeaten 7-0-5 record on the campaign. They host the West Region Quarterfinal Saturday, July 7 at SFCC 7:00 pm.
The weekend kicked off in fantastic fashion Friday at Starfire Complex with a pair of early goals set up by Jesse Retan. Retan delivered a corner from the left in the ninth minute that JD Hauenstein got his head to despite the presence of the OSA keeper’s arm.
Five minutes later a free kick from the left touchline well out in midfield was sent to the top of the box where Eddie Benito leaned down to get his head to it. The ball popped up over the goalkeeper and dropped in under the crossbar.
On Saturday it was Chase Reidt who tallied the opening goal in the contest. On a corner from Noah Chapleski that was headed out of the box, Reidt stepped forward and volleyed the ball first time from about 30 yards far enough from the keeper that he could only get a fingertip to it before it found the back of the net.
Reidt, a Spokane Shadow youth product, scored in all three games against Kitsap this season, He tallied the first equalizer in the 2-2 road draw in Bremerton the opening weekend of the season and scored the final tally in the 5-0 home win against the Pumas. Reidt finished the regular season with seven goals and ranks eighth in the West Region among goal scorers. At 19, he is three years younger than any other player in the 10 top for scoring in the region.
Bryan Hernandez was in goal for both games.
