GREATER LOWELL LOSES TO TSF 5-0
It was a stormy Saturday night in Wayne, New Jersey as GL NPSL FC and TSF FC were set to face off. The game was scheduled for a 7:00 pm but was delayed until 8:10 pm due to a passing lightning storm.
From the beginning of the game, TSF took control of the game putting Lowell on their heels. As TSF continued to attack, they were able to force mistakes and fouls by Lowell leading to lots of free kicks around the Lowell penalty area, as well as a red card for Lowell captain Pat Hamilton.
Despite being down a man and facing a relentless attack, Lowell was able to hold on to a 0-0 tie going into half time, in part due to a few huge free kick saves by goalkeeper Cooper Hall. However, the second half would prove to be a much different game.
TSF’s halftime adjustment definitely paid off as just five minutes into the second half they blew past the Lowell defense, crossed the ball low across the face of goal and tapped it in. Just two minutes later TSF would make Lowell pay for a foul committed just outside their penalty area. The TSF kick taker lined up his shot and buried it perfectly into the far post, in the top corner.
TSF would strike again in the 68th minute when a shot deflected off of Lowell defender Pat DeRosa and into the back of the net.
The goals just kept coming for TSF as Teddy Farson would score a pair before the final whistle. His first came off of pure speed, blowing past a couple of Lowell defenders and slotting the ball into the goal. His second came in the 90th minute after using his speed again to get into the box and toe poke the ball far post while fighting off a Lowell defender.
In the whole match, Lowell was able to get off two shots against TSF. One was a header from Jacob Simmons that just missed over the crossbar and the other was a full field bomb from Hall that forced the TSF goalkeeper to make a save.
