MATCH RECAP: SOCAL SC FALLS TO ALBION SC PROS ON THE LAST ROAD GAME OF THE SEASON
The Southern California Sports Club was defeated on its last road game in the 2017 NPSL season as the team fell 2-0 to Albion SC PROS on Saturday (July 1) at Mission Bay High School in San Diego.
Despite the result, SoCal SC, which is eliminated from playoff contention, remains in fifth place in the Southwest Conference with 17 points (five wins, two ties, eight losses). Undefeated for the last nine matches, Albion has 31 points and is still fighting for its place in the postseason.
The match started with a very heated pace, with hard tackles and several fouls from both sides. Despite both teams having good chances to find the back of the net, the first half ended scoreless.
In the second half, Albion stepped up and took control of the match. Coming off the bench at halftime, forward Tre Hayes changed the match assisting Sean Callahan to score at the 52th minute and finding the back of the net himself ten minutes earlier. He was rewarded with the Man of the Match award.
SoCal SC goalkeeper Tyler Wilson saved a penalty kick and prevented Albion from scoring their third goal in the match.
After completing its road schedule, SoCal SC prepares to close the season in front of its fans next Sunday (July 9), when the team hosts Temecula FC at the Fairplex at 11:00 am PT.
