NEW JERSEY COPA FC TO HOST MAJOR DOUBLEHEADER

New Jersey Copa FC is set to host a home doubleheader at Saint John Vianney High School in Holmdel, NJ this upcoming Sunday, June 25th, with major playoff implications pending on the results for both teams. The NJCFC NPSL Men are first, taking on cross-town rivals Clarkstown at 4:30 pm. Following are the NJCFC UWS Women, who square off against the only team that has ever handed them a loss in regular season play in the history of the club – the Long Island Rough Riders – at 7:00 pm.

“It is hard to accurately describe just how monumental this weekend is for NJCFC,” said Head Coach Roberto Aguas. “The NPSL Men are coming off a huge six-point weekend, with a thrilling 3-2 win at Greater Binghamton on June 17th before a big 1-0 home victory over Electric City Shock on the 18th. Now, with only three regular season games left, we face off against the same team that knocked us out of the 2016 regional championship game, the same team we narrowly beat in a close 1-0 win earlier in the season in Jersey City.”

The NJCFC NPSL Men are currently tied at the top of the Keystone Conference, with West Chester United SC, the only club to hand them a loss throughout the 2017 NPSL season.

“This year, the top four teams of each conference will face off against each other to determine who represents the Keystone at the regional stage,” explained Associate Head Coach Billy Englishby. “We have put in the work thus far this season to put ourselves in a very good position to fight to be that team that advances from the Keystone Conference.”

Sitting on a 5-1-1 record, NJCFC has only three regular season games left to secure their spot in the NPSL playoffs. After a stellar inaugural season, where they reached the 2016 Northeast Regional Championships, NJCFC is looking to make an even deeper playoff run in a league that experience massive expansion again in 2017.

“However, standing in our way is our crosstown rivals in Clarkstown,” Englishby continued. “We know their players and their coaches very well, so we’re really looking forward to this battle on our home turf. Our fans will not be disappointed in the passion displayed on the field this Sunday.”
