RECAP: DULUTH FC 1, MED CITY FC 1

After a morning of rain and thunderstorms, the skies began to clear as Duluth FC and Med City FC prepared to take the field at Public Schools Stadium in Duluth, MN.  More than 400 fans were in attendance, including a passionate group of Med City FC supporters who made the trip from Rochester, MN.  All in attendance were ready for an exciting match, and they were not disappointed.

The match began with a strong push from Med City FC whose probing runs were matched by the solid back line for the BlueGreens.  The play was physical as these two teams fought hard for control of the midfield, at times spilling over into a scuffle or two.  The tension built on the pitch, eventually resulting in a red card for Med City FC forward Claudio Rivadeneira and a yellow card for Duluth FC defender Ben Phillips in the 33rd minute.  The first half came to an end with a score of 0-0.

As the second half began, there was an increased push by both teams and the game opened up with strong goalkeeping by JC Perez Castor of Med City FC and Samuel Winning of Duluth FC to keep the game scoreless.  Despite playing down a man, Med City FC created some of their best chances on goal, including a bicycle kick off of the crossbar by Ayo Adebayo.  It would be Duluth FC, however, who would finally breakthrough in the 88th minute with a goal by Charlie Crane assisted by Kyle Farrar, sending the hundreds of BlueGreens supporters into a frenzy.  But Med City FC continued to push forward and stunned the crowd with an equalizer in the 90th minute by Matias Pazos Dumic.  At the end of the day, both teams walked away with a hard earned point in what is sure to become a rivalry.
