Midland-Odessa FC Falls 2-1 to Fort Worth Vaqueros
In their first road match of the season and first in a stretch of five straight, Midland-Odessa FC was unable to walk away with any points as they fell 2-1 to Fort Worth Vaqueros FC at Arlington Heights High School.
Midland-Odessa FC (3-1-0, 9 pts.) found the back of the net first and it was the familiar combo of Darius Strambler to Ricardo Palomino that got Midland-Odessa on the board in the 37th minute. For Palomino, it was his fourth goal in as many games. Midland native Darius Strambler also picked up his fourth assist of the season.
Fort Worth (4-1-0, 12 pts.) would get its equalizer in the 71st minute when Harris Partain scored off an assist from Jamie Lovegrove.
The Vaqueros would then take the lead in the 86th minute as Henrik Mueller was given a red card for taking Matt Rochowski down in the box. Johnny McBeth also received a red card on the play and Midland-Odessa FC had to play two men down the rest of the match.
On the ensuing penalty kick after Mueller’s red card, it would be Lovegrove who converted the PK, which ultimately gave Fort Worth the three points.
It was a physical contest that saw both team draw 12 fouls each, while Fort Worth had the corner kick advantage, 6-2.
Up next for Midland-Odessa FC will be a road match against Tyler FC (0-2-2, 2 pts.) on Thursday, June 8th.
