Knoxville Force Best FC Carolina United
FC Carolina United traveled from Charlotte to Knoxville Tuesday night hoping for their first win of the season in the National Premier Soccer League, but the Knoxville Force resisted and won 5-0.
The Force scored early in the match at Sansom Sports Complex, with Chris Inman getting the assist from Cam Schneider to go up 1-0 in the 13th minute.
Knoxville wouldn’t score again until the 42nd minute, when Ashley Kelynack knocked in one off the inside of the post making it 2-0. Each team headed into halftime with a player receiving a yellow card.
Joe Taylor scored Knoxville’s third point in the 54th minute followed by Rury Alvarez’s goal in the 62nd minute, making it 4-0.
The final point of the night was by Jon Creel, who helped close out the game in the 81st minute to put Knoxville up 5-0.
With some bad weather prior to the start of the match, Knoxville Force General Manager Derrick Long wasn’t sure how the evening would go, but was pleased with the outcome.
“While the score may have reflected otherwise, FC Carolina United definitely came ready to play tonight. I’m happy for our players and coaches and the tremendous effort they showed to get this win,” Long said.
The Force get to rest and prepare for a June 8 home game versus Atlanta Silverbacks.
