Little Rock Rangers Defeat Dallas City 2-1
The Little Rock Rangers are atop the Heartland Conference standings after defeating Dallas City FC by a final score of 2-1 Friday night.
The Rangers scored two goals in the later minutes of the first half to come back from an early deficit.
“In the first half we were in a hole in the first 5 minutes of the game,” said Will Montgomery, head coach of the Rangers. “However, I was very pleased with the character of our players. We settled down and continued to perform at a very high level, earning two goals in the process.”
Dallas City jumped on top early by scoring with just over a minute played. It wasn’t until the 40th minute that the Rangers were able to equalize. Forward Leo Ferri broke away and hammered a shot past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. Four minutes later, Rangers defender and captain Nick Doyle tapped in the go-ahead goal. The Rangers controlled the game for the second half and won by a final score of 2-1.
The result coupled with a loss from Tulsa Athletic places the Rangers in first place in the conference standings.
The Rangers will play next on Thursday against Demize NPSL in Springfield, Mo.
