RANGERS UNLUCKY TO DRAW AWAY AGAINST DALLAS CITY

The Little Rock Rangers drew their opening game of the National Professional Soccer League season against Dallas City FC Saturday night by a final score of 2-2.

The Rangers opened scoring in the seventh minute when Estiven Garcia side volleyed a cross from Israel Hernandez into the back of the net. Dallas City quickly responded with a 13th minute goal to level the score at one, and wasn’t until the second half that the Rangers scored again to take the lead. Garcia once again finished off of a cross from Hernandez to make the score 2-1. A penalty call in the 76th minute ended Little Rock’s hopes of taking home three points, as the Dallas City striker calmly finished from the spot.

“We were very unfortunate not to leave Dallas with three points,” said Rangers’ coach Will Montgomery. “Overall, I am very pleased with how we performed against Dallas City FC, and look forward to playing them again in Little Rock.”

Estiven Garcia was named Man of the Match Saturday night due to his two goals and overall stellar performance.

“I’m very delighted to see Estiven get on the scoresheet,” said Montgomery. “He has worked hard in training to improve his finishing ability, and the results showed against Dallas City FC. He very much deserved the Man of the Match award.”

The Rangers will look to add to their point total next weekend as they travel to Wichita, Kan., to face FC Wichita.

“We are off to a decent start to the season,” finished Montgomery. “We have many more tough games ahead of us, but we are prepared to face the quality of teams in our conference both home and away.”
