FC Arizona Defeats Oxnard Guerreros 4-0

FC Arizona scored two goals on each side of the half and cruised to a 4-0 victory, its first National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) victory in club history. 1136 fans and supporters turned out for yet another great match in Mesa, AZ.

Finding the back of the net in the first half was Kenny McAvoy and Cesar Mexia with Chris Sanchez and Chris Ramsell scoring in the second half.

After picking up a point in a scoreless match last week in its NPSL debut, FC Arizona came our strong early on and scored just six minutes into the match when McAvoy collected the ball just on the other side of the half and started to charge at the Guerreros goal. At the top of the box, he took a touch to the inside and curled a shot into the far post for the first regular-season goal in FC Arizona history.

Eleven minutes after that, Paul LaMarca played a through ball to Cesar Mexia, who immediately played it outside to McAvoy. He took a touch and played it back to an unmarked Mexia in the box for an easy finish.

FC Arizona continued to push for a third goal but didn’t get it until the 67th minute when Manny Campos dribbled to the touchline and curled a cross into the box to Sanchez. He corralled the ball and finished far post. In the 83rd minute, Ramsell scored the final goal on a free kick from 30 yards out.

FC Arizona will be back in action next Saturday (March 25) when they play host to Albion PROS at 7:30 p.m. at John D Riggs Stadium on the campus of Mesa Community College. Single match tickets are available here and are $12 for adults and $5 for youth players wearing their club, recreational, or indoor jerseys.
