ATLANTA SILVERBACKS ADVANCE IN PLAYOFFS WITH 4-0 WIN AGAINST CAROLINA RAILHAWKS NPSL

The South Atlantic Conference playoff match between #2 seed Atlanta Silverbacks and #3 seed Carolina RailHawks NPSL was originally scheduled to start at 3:30 pm in Atlanta. The game’s start time was changed last minute to a 7:30 pm kick off at the beautiful Georgia Gwinnett College Campus in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Atlanta’s Pedro Polaz  was the Man of the Match as he put in a brilliant performance, scoring two goals and providing one assist. The Silverbacks controlled the game from the start, dominating possession in the first twenty minutes of the game.  Atlanta would miss a few chances, but would certainly make up for that later.

As the first half progressed, Atlanta continues to press forward and finally broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute when Gabriel Obatola blasted home a close-range effort from a pass from Polaz. The Silverbacks continued to press forward with Polaz almost doubling Atlanta’s lead on a few occasions before the first half ended. Atlanta took a 1-0 lead into the half.

In the second half, Atlanta started right where they left off in the first half, doubling their lead in the 54th minutes when Polaz headed home a free kick from Ali Janadeleh. Up 2-0, Atlanta was hungry for more with Joao Johanning scoring in the 77th minute and  Polaz again scoring in the 84th minute to put the game away at 4-0.

Next, up is the conference championship on Saturday, July 9th when Tobacco Road FC travel to Atlanta to face the Silverbacks on their home turf. Tobacco Road defeated the  #1 seed Myrtle Beach Mutiny 1-0 in the final moments of exra time to advance in the playoffs.  Atlanta had a 1-1 record against Tobacco Road during the regular season.

This will be an exciting rematch here in Atlanta as both teams try to book their tickets to the next round of the NPSL playoffs.
