VAQUEROS FALL AT HOME TO LIVERPOOL WARRIORS
The Vaqueros fell 2-0 to the McKinney-based Liverpool Warriors on Saturday.
The visiting Warriors (4-3-1, 13 points) scored a goal each side of the half to capture the two-goal victory in NPSL South Central Conference action.
“The team is not playing with a lot of confidence at the moment,” Vaqueros coach Mark Snell said. “This is partly due to five starters, either injured or illness. We need to get our confidence back because we have been getting away from our style.”
The match proved an evenly played affair as both sides created opportunities. The Vaqueros (1-6-1, 4 points) appeared to open the scoring midway through the first half but an open netter was ruled offside.
Liverpool opened the scoring midway through the first half (the 24th minute) on a 1-on-1 breakaway.
The Warriors then added the insurance goal in the 57th minute.
The Vaqueros return to NPSL South Central Conference play on Tuesday with a home game against FC Wichita (6-1, 18 points).
