On Sunday evening the Richmond Strikers topped ASA Charge 3-1 at Carlos Martinoli Stadium under high temperatures. ASA Charge traveled with only 11 players to the match due to injuries.  The high temperatures were not in their favor when the Richmond Strikers had a full bench. The Richmond Strikers went up 1-0 in the first 19 minutes of the match, when Christian Jones put a goal away after pressing their defense.
ASA never let down and kept the Strikers on their toes while they were looking for the counter attack. Unfortunately for ASA but fortunately for the Strikers, a penalty kick was awarded to the Strikers in the 30th minute after a player was taken down in the box. Things heated up on the sidelines prior to the penalty kick. but cooled off in time for Finnlay Wyatt to place the ball in the side netting, making the score 2-0.
Halftime was a much-needed reprieve for ASA. After the start of the half, the Strikers came out a little slow and let ASA get in on the scoring action. Robert Flott notched his goal for ASA in the 49th minute. Richmond Strikers turned things back up and put in some high pressure, made some subs to get fresh legs on the pitch, and was able to get another goal in the 60th minute by Forrest White, who just walked right on by the keeper.
The Strikers stay at home for one more game before heading on the road. They will play Fredericksburg FC on Friday at 7 pm and then travel to VB City FC on Sunday.
