KANAN’S HAT TRICK HELPS DUTCH LIONS DOMINATE FORT WORTH
On a warm Saturday evening in Conroe, Texas the Dutch Lions FC NPSL hosted the Fort Worth Vaqueros. This game was the third of a very long week for the Dutch Lions, having three games over seven days.
The Dutch Lions opened their account for the night in the 29th minute with a goal by Ahmed Zaky, who was played through into the space with a beautiful ball from Jose Pablo Covarrubias. The Dutch Lions had several missed opportunities in the first half and could be disappointed going into the dressing room only a goal ahead.
Fort Worth came out in the second half looking to pull one back and were rewarded with a penalty in the 58th minute. The penalty was brilliantly saved by Dutch Lions goalkeeper Matthew Gutierrez, but then the rebound was slotted home by Fort Worth’s Matthew Rochowski.
After that, the Dutch Lions dominated possession and subsequently put in five more goals after the 61st minute. The goals came in a flurry, most notably with Anuar Kanan scoring a hat trick. The other goals also came from Orrin Farrel and Covarrubias.
The final result on the night was a 6-1 victory for the Dutch Lions over the Fort Worth Vaqueros. The Dutch Lions are now firmly in second place with an overall record of 5-1-1. They will now travel to Joplin to take on the Demize on June 17th.
