FORT WORTH _ The Vaqueros will celebrate Fourth of July with an exhibition match against popular Mexican club Santos Laguna’s U20 side.

The exhibition game marks the second this season against a club from Mexico as the Vaqueros are slated to face Monterrey Rayados’ U20 side on June 30.

The match is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Texas Wesleyan University’s Martin Field.

“We can think of no better way to celebrate Independence Day than with a soccer match,” Vaqueros Director of Business Operations Tobias Xavier Lopez said. “We had a great time last summer on July 4th and expect to do the same this year. We want to thank Jarritos and the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau for helping make this match happen.”

Santos Laguna hold the current Liga MX title. Santos was founded in 1983 and made its first appearance in the top division five years later in 1988.  They managed to stay in the top two flights ever since.  Santos have won the Liga MX five times: Invierno 1996, Verano 2001, Clausura 2008, 2012, & 2015, the Copa MX once in 2014, the Campeon de Campeones in 2014-15, and InterLiga once in 2004.  In international play they have been runners-up in the CONCACAF Champions League twice (2011-12, 2012-13).

Fort Worth has played international exhibitions every season with a match against the El Salvador U21 national team in 2014 and Japan’s RKU last year.

Tickets for the Santos Laguna match are the normal Vaqueros price of $10 for adults and $5 for youth 6-16. Vaqueros season seat holders get in free as always by wearing their official UN1TUS Vaqueros jersey.

A $15 two-game Mexico Showcase package is available for the Monterrey Rayados U20 match on June 30 and the Santos Laguna U20 match on July 4.

Tickets can be purchased online at the Vaqueros Gear Shop or at the gate.
