DUTCH LIONS FC DROPS FIRST POINTS OF THE SEASON

On a damp night in Conroe, Texas at the Houston Dutch Lions FC Soccer Facility, the Dutch Lions FC hosted Tulsa Athletics in a much anticipated bout for the top spot in the South Central Conference.  The Tusla Athletics came out fast with a goal in the third minute of the game scored by Dave Lueng.  This would come to be the theme of the night as the Dutch Lions FC just couldn’t find the answer to the Tulsa Athletics quick-paced play.  The Tulsa Athletics would score again from Lueng in the 35th minute of play.  The score was 2-0 at halftime and the Lions were trying to claw back into the game.

Tulsa were again the first out of the gate for the second half scoring just 16 seconds into the start of the half on an individual dribble from Raymond Saari.  The game got a bit physical into the second half as Tulsa enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 lead with a couple yellow cards issued to each team.  The Lions bagged one back from a corner kick in the 72nd minute as substitute Dener Dos Santos headed the ball past the Athletics keeper.   In the 74th minute Tulsa was issued a red card for a harsh tackle committed by Jose Navarro.  With the Athletics down to ten men and the score at 3-1 the Lions started to press higher and gain a bit more offensive play.  The Tulsa Athletics killed off the game with their fourth goal of the night coming from the foot of Matheus Goveia in the 78th minute.  Goveia would get one more goal to add to his tally in the 85th minute and finish off a dominating performance for the Athletics over the Lions.  The final score of the game was 5-1 in favor of the visiting Athletics.

Tulsa Athletics improved their record to 6-1-1 with their next game on June 10th against FC Wichita.  The Dutch Lions FC are now 4-1-0 with their next game at home Thursday, June 9th against Corinthians FC SA.
