Rangers Outshoot Regals, but Fall 1-0
On a beautiful Sunday night at historic War Memorial Stadium, a large and energetic crowd showed up to watch the Little Rock Rangers take on the Houston Regals.
Little Rock forced the action early, including seven first half shots by Mauricio Hernandez, but it was the Regals who knocked the first goal of the match into the net in the 31st minute. James Wright scored on a ball from Ivan Van Vásquez to put the Regals up 1-0. The score would stay that way, but not because of lack of effort from the Rangers.
Some highlights for the Rangers included:
16 total shots compared to 14 from the Regals Bryce Deaton making an incredible diving save to keep the Regals off the board in the 24th minute
Henandez really forcing the action early, including an incredible bicycle kick shot that was saved by the Regals keeper Ferdinand Matebu making some plays for the Rangers in the second half, including three shots
The Rangers will go back on the road to face the Joplin Demize on May 21st before returning home for four straight home games, with the first one being May 28th at 7:00 pm against the Dutch Lions FC NPSL.
