Vaqueros fall 3-0 to Dallas City FC in rivalry match
The first meeting between D/FW rivals, the Fort Worth Vaqueros and Dallas
City FC, went to Big D.
The Vaqueros fell 3-0 to Dallas City FC at Dallas Bishop Lynch’s Roffino
Stadium on Saturday in NPSL South Central Conference play.
“This game was a hard pill to swallow due to the fact that their three goals
came off counter attacks,” Vaqueros coach Mark Snell said. “We controlled
the game for long periods of time and created a lot of chances, but we could
not finish. We will analyze the game and get ready to play them again on
Tuesday.”
Dallas City (2-1, 6 points) jumped out to an early lead with a 7th minute
goal. The Vaqueros (0-1-1, 1 point) kept the match tight into halftime.
Fort Worth created some quality chances early in the second half. However,
a rough two-minute patch saw Dallas City score a pair of goals in the
71st and 73rd minutes.
The Vaqueros won’t have long to wait before the chance at redemption.
Dallas City travels to Fort Worth on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. conference
match at Texas Wesleyan University’s Martin Field.
