LOS CONEJOS TALLY FIVE IN NINE-GOAL AFFAIR
On a brisk, cloudy afternoon in the Valley of Conejo, FC Hasental clawed their way to a 5-4 win over Deportivo Coras USA.
The lead changed hands four times with Coras initiating the scoring in the second minute when Uri Romero drove up the left wing before cutting inside to beat FCH keeper Osvaldo Valladolid to his far post. FCH striker Alberto Anguiano answered immediately with a 20-yard strike, beating the outstretched hand of the Coras keeper to level the score in the third minute. FCH striker Luis Conriques was taken down in the box after being on the receiving end of Anguiano’s through pass. FCH captain Juan Valladolid stepped up to convert the penalty kick putting FCH up 2-1 in the 20th. Coras turned the game on its head with two unanswered goals by the Shelton brothers in the 32nd and 35th minute, putting Coras up 3-2 before halftime.
The second half saw both teams battling to control possession, with Osvaldo Valladolid coming up with a couple of big saves to keep the Conejos in the game. In the 75th, Hasental was able to put together an attack resulting in a handball by a Coras defender in the box. Juan Valladolid stepped up again and sent the resulting penalty kick to the back of the lower right corner, leveling the score at 3-3.
Los Conejos struck again in the 85th after the Coras keeper was able to come up with two big saves; Chavarria was able to increase Hasental’s lead to 5-3. Things got interesting when Coras rallied with a goal in the 90th. Anguiano looked as though he would complete his hat trick when he found himself alone with the Coras keeper, but was unable to finish. Time ran out on Coras with the final whistle marking the 5-4 win for FC Hasental. “Coras is always a strong defensive team and therefore neutralized much of what we wanted to do,” FCH head coach Eric Warner said. “It was good to see Tito (Alberto Anguiano) and Juan Valladolid step up and find the net four times between the two of them.”
The Man of the Match honor went to Hasental striker Alberto Anguiano. Next up for FCH is an away match against SoCal SC from San Bernardino.
