VAQUEROS FALL ON THE ROAD TO THE JOPLIN DEMIZE

After 77 minutes it appeared as the Vaqueros were set to collect a valuable road draw in Missouri.

However, a brief three-minute stretch saw the Demize score a pair of goals to earn a 3-1 victory against Fort Worth in NPSL South Central Conference action.

“The game was there to be won,” Vaqueros coach Mark Snell said. “But we continued to give the ball away in the midfield, which led to their goals. Certain players need to play as a team more and less as individuals.”

The Demize (1-1-1, 4 points) picked up goals in the 77th and 80th minutes to earn the 3-1 victory.

Joplin took a 1-0 lead into the half after opening the scoring in the 28th minute.  The Vaqueros (1-3-1, 4 points) evened the score 1-1 in the 58th minute when substitute Matthew Rochowski scored with a shot to the low left corner of the Joplin goal.

“Overall, I am very disappointed in the performance and the result,” Snell said.

The Vaqueros take a break from NPSL action next Saturday, June 4 for an exhibition against the under-23 squad from Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo. The exhibition match is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Texas Wesleyan University’s Martin Field.  The match celebrates City of Fort Worth night where all city employees get into the game for FREE.
