SOL TO FACE SACRAMENTO REPUBLIC FC IN SANTA ROSA
The Sonoma County Sol are pleased to announce a preseason match with the USL’s Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday, February 27th at 7 pm. The match will take place at Santa Rosa High School in Santa Rosa, California.
“I am very proud of the strides Sol has taken in the last several years,” Sol Head Coach Vinnie Cortezzo commented. “It’s great to be competing at a level where clubs like Sac Republic are willing to come play us here in Sonoma County. It is an excellent opportunity for all soccer fans from the area to come out and see professional soccer. This will be a big test for our team. It is also a rare opportunity for Sol players to test themselves against some of the top players in the country. We are looking forward to the challenge.”
Tickets, which are priced at $10 for youths and $15 for adults, can be purchased at http://www.sonomasolstore.com/sol-store/adult-sol-vs-republic-tickets.
This is the first professional soccer game in Sonoma County since 2009.
“We see the match against the Sol as another great opportunity for us to prepare for the season,” Republic Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle added. “We look forward to seeing the fans at the match and hope the community comes out to support both clubs.”
The Sol last faced the Republic on May 20, 2015 in the second round of the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. That match finished as a 4-2 win for Sacramento.
It has been a busy preseason for the Sol. They played the San Jose Earthquakes on February 17th, losing 3-1 to the MLS side. Quincy Amarikwa, Chad Barrett, and Adam Jahn scored for the Quakes, while Brenton Frame tallied the lone goal for Sonoma County. Simon Dawkins finished with two assists for San Jose.
