WEST REGION RECAP – APRIL 21, 2014

Regular season play continued in the West Region as the rest of the country prepares for their start in a few weeks.

Temecula FC and FC Santa Clarita Storm finished with a 2-2 draw in the only NPSL match on Friday.  The Storm was led by striker Tyler Coombes, who scored in both the 48th and 75th minute, and goalkeeper Hector Leon, who finished with nine critical saves.

Saturday would feature six matches, including a battle between the two remaining unbeaten teams in the Southwest Conference.  San Diego Flash Soccer Club came out on top over FC Force by a final score of 3–1, allowing the Flash to reclaim the top spot in the conference.  Edgar Mendez, Brandon Zuniga, and Sergio Valle-Ortiz all scored for San Diego, which came back from a 1-0 deficit.

Seattle Sporting FC suffered their first loss of the season as they were shut out 3-0 by Spartans Futbol Club.  Carlos Bolanos, David Hernandez, and Oswin Williams all scored for the Portland side.
