Fort Pitt Regiment Closes Season with 1-0 Loss
The season finale featured plenty of attacking soccer and challenged both goalkeepers. Usually that style of play gives the Regiment the advantage but William Banahene back-stopped his defense to keep the FPR attack at bay.
Rochester’s Austin Gerber scored the game-winner 12 minutes from time. He was able to angle around Matt McDyer at the top of the FPR area to get off a shot to the back post past the diving Scott Rissler.
The goalkeepers were the story of the night with both seeing plenty of action from shots, restarts, and corners. Rissler and Banahene both had eight saves while watching a number of other shots hit posts, crossbars, or just miss the frame.
The Regiment finish the year 6-5-1.
