Napa Valley 1839 FC

About Napa Valley 1839 FC

Napa Valley is known for its wine and its food. We are noted at the second largest tourist destination in the state of California. Why 1839? We thought it fitting to name our team after the year George C. Yount who planted the first grapevines in the Napa Valley.

In 2015 a group of individuals (soccer-loving individuals) came together to form a Napa Valley men’s amateur soccer team, named Napa Valley 1839 FC, as part of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). Napa Valley 1839 played its first season in the NPSL Golden Gate Conference 3 months after forming and has now completed three full seasons. We continue to follow the lead of big NPSL teams like those in the Members Cup. Our intention is to have family entertainment, thus the kid zone as well as the beer and wine garden at all our games.

We believe our region has top level players at younger ages and 1839 hopes to be a driver of youth toward the next level of play. For this reason, we have partnered with Napa United a local youth club to build players in a different manner, under the direction of Napa United 1839 Academy Director Gavin Taylor. “Under the direction of Academy Director Gavin Taylor, we are confident that 1839 will be seeing players come through our programs into the NPSL and beyond.”

Sport is entertainment and our viewing fans come in all ages from toddlers to teens to seniors; we can rightfully say ages 2 to 82 are in the stadium. While much of our fan base is Hispanic, the overall audience is comprised of a diverse blend of ethnic backgrounds and economic status, yet with the common trait of sport as a universal bond. Families from across Napa Valley are seen at each game, enjoying an evening outdoors at Dodd Stadium. 1839 FC offers inspiration abound for young (and old) boys and girls to witness first hand the human expression of sports. Fans love the bubble soccer half-time competitions. Children love the kid zone that has a soccer blow up dart board, shooting gallery and at times more. The beer and wine garden make it fun for fans to enjoy the game as well.
