NPSL Announces 2021 Return to Play Series

The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce the launch of the 2021 Return to Play Series.

The NPSL Return to Play Series can take place in any location where NPSL teams are present and able to play. It is not the traditional NPSL summer season, nor is it a one time pre-season tournament. The series will include any playing activity leading up to the NPSL summer season, scheduled to start in May. For inclusion in the series, games will feature NPSL members only, not teams from other leagues.

“The NPSL has had a positive year, despite our regular 2020 summer season being cancelled due to the pandemic. Our teams, staff, and Board of Directors have been preparing for the league’s return to play, and this series is our path forward,” said NPSL Managing Director Cindy Spera. “We want to show the soccer community that the NPSL has remained strong and healthy and has made it through the pandemic, ready to play. The league has been unveiling a strong group of expansion teams, and we look forward to getting everyone back on the field safely. We know that each area of the country is encountering different, ever-changing regulations, and the Return to Play Series is an opportunity for NPSL members to play meaningful matches before the start of our traditional summer season.”

More information about the series will be announced in the coming weeks and months, as NPSL members and staff alike navigate the local regulations in place.

“We anticipate that some teams will be able to come together for a mini-tournament, and some might only be able to play one-off matches,” said Spera. “Any NPSL-vs-NPSL competition before our summer season begins will carry the banner of the Return to Play Series.”
