FC WICHITA EMERGES VICTORIOUS
In a season defining match for both teams, FC Wichita managed a vital 2-1 win over Corinthians FC SA at Alamo Stadium on Friday night. That result sees Corinthians FC SA surrender the points per game conference lead.
It was an entertaining start to the game as FC Wichita and Corinthians FC SA were determined to go for the match, but it was FC Wichita who hit the lead.
After fighting for possession on half way, Abel Zella did well to get control of the ball on the right wing. That allowed him to release Matt Clare who ran on to the ball in space, and get to it before Robert Allen allowing him to finish well and make it 1-0 in the 12th minute.
Corinthians FC SA had a good passage in the middle of the half, but the FC Wichita defense was doing well to keep the hosts at bay in an impressive performance.
A corner for FC Wichita in the 27th minute gave them another opportunity as a well taken inswinger found Chisholm Ogbona. His header was too close to Allen though, who managed to make a simple save, keeping it 1-0.
Corinthians FC SA pulled their goal back in the 35th minute after an unfortunate slip on the turf from Alex Mosley. That afforded Victor Pinal all the space he needed to run free on goal and then slide it past the keeper for the equalizer.
That lead to a good passage for Corinthians FC SA and they thought they had the lead in the 38th minute when Esteban Bayona had the ball in the back of the net. But he was just offside, which saw the goal chalked off.
It was FC Wichita who grabbed the third goal of the match as again they were afforded space, this time on the left. It forced Allen off his line, which allowed the space for Zella to get a pass away to Luca Anelli who buried it to make it 2-1 at half-time.
Corinthians FC SA were looking for a goal desperately throughout the second half but FC Wichita’s defense was strong throughout. That kept the second half bereft of chances and created a very heated atmosphere that only got worse throughout but Wichita held on, winning 2-1.
