Saturday’s action featured two strong matchups.
FC Force and FC Hasental played to a 0-0 draw in Simi Valley, California in a physical and chippy match that featured 11 yellow cards and two red cards.
FC Force played with a man down in the 69th with their first red and then were forced to play with just nine men after picking up a second red in the 82nd.
“FC Force always plays with an edge,” said FCH defender Johnny Martinez.
CD Aguiluchos USA defeated FC Tacoma 253 by a 2-0 margin in the other Saturday game. An own goal put CDA up 1-0 in the 42nd minute and a goal by CDA forward Greivin Pacheco followed in the 76th.
Sunday was another great day of soccer action in the NPSL.
Deportivo Coras USA handed the San Diego Flash a 3-1 defeat thanks to goals from forwards Shane Shelton and Cristian Zamora and midfielder Mingyu Wee. Jock Duach scored the lone goal for the Flash.
“Today’s grind out victory was a positive for us as a team,” Shelton commented. “It’s one step closer to our goal.”
Deportivo Coras USA held a 14-8 advantage in shots with five of those efforts being put on target.
However, it was a costly match for both sides with San Diego defender Nick Hamilton receiving a red card and DCU defenders Fernando Cabello and Cody Shelton both suffering injuries.
SF Stompers FC came away with a 3-2 victory over Tacoma. The Stompers were led by striker Khalid Arramdani, who finished the match with two goals and one assist.
“We came out strong and played our game,” SF Stompers FC Head Coach Martin Sierra Sr. stated. “We controlled the middle and I think that was the key in today’s victory. Hats off to FC Tacoma, who showed a lot of heart playing back-to-back games. Even down a man they fought hard until the end.”
